Time Will Bring Things Around

It has been nearly two years since my neutral little blog turned its focus on the lives of James and Birgitte and their beautiful family. The platform of my blog as a public record was requested by them, in order to observe full transparency where a curtain of secrecy was being drawn by public officials in Puriscal, Costa Rica.  Since the initial post in July 2011, a calculated act of deception unleashed a great amount of sorrow with the unnecessary loss of a beautiful, talented, genuine young lady, Nikoline. She would have been 15 this month.

There is a tight knot in my core, a sick inside of me which accompanies my sadness as I remember Nikoline, Bubba. Not only was a bright, innocent girl lost, but an inspiring family as well. They are now shattered and divided. After watching this united family approach what was a simple vaccine request with confidence, then caution, fear, outright terror and finally unspeakable grief and trepidation, I am beyond sad, I am quite angry. There is a purpose to the judicial system and when it fails the stench of injustice permeates the community and misguided blame casts dark shadows. With the guilty free of accountability, victims carry the burden of the crimes;  like a woman scrutinized for the length of her skirt.

James has finally completed examining each nauseating detail of the secretive, treasonous case. We are both glad it is finished. I've observed a man, my friend who once rode a white horse, crawl out of a hole filled with rage and callousness. His journey through that darkness was greeted with silence from all but a few. That burdensome hush is a verdict with no day in court, just like the judge in dealing with this case.

Perhaps a clash of convictions was the seed from which the heinous events grew. It is fair to observe, however, that the work presented to the courts by James and Birgitte, while fueled by conviction, was not penned with beliefs, but with a detailed presentation of law which lay in wait for reply. A simple reply, a rebuttal was all that was necessary. But rather than resort to tools of intellect,  brute force was selected, and unspeakable damage was done. While it may seem that the conclusion of James' work is an end to the story, good people are still hurt. Our actions and reactions travel with us, lies and deception hold nothing to truth, and time will bring things around.
