En Qualquier Momento

In October, 2009 we moved. When we solicited the power at our house, it ws connected with no problems, no wait. The same went for our water. Then there is the matter of our telephone. We live off of a quiet dirt road, not at all far from town. Our neighbors all have telephones and access to high speed Internet. We have, now for five months, been waiting for a telephone to be installed at our house. This is just a matter of a couple of guys in a truck with some wire and know how. We have the permit already.

I remember reading about the trouble with telephones before we moved to Costa Rica. It is true, that no good person should ever find themselves on the needy end of ICE, the phone and electric company. I don´t know why it is so difficult. A good friend of mine just requested a phone line of her own. She called me with an excited tone in her voice, "Next week, " she said. Yes, our phone was expected on Friday, three weeks ago, or was it Monday, two months ago? My husband spoke, again, to the man who should know. "Call tomorrow morning by 7am." Done. "Good morning sir, yes, we have you on schedule, you will receive your line at any moment now, en qualquier momento." Hmmmm.

Odds are that my friend will get her phone first. Probably next week. Luckily we have cell reception at our house, well sort of. My brother-in-law received more reliable reception from his service in France while he was here in our house. I am not complaining, not yet anyhow. This is still in the realm of normal, for ICE. Besides, there is not one ounce of good that could come from being impatient. Patience hasn´t helped any either. We are simply suspended in the desert, waiting for a breeze.
