Time to Reflect

We recently had a surprise visit from my mother-in-law. She is a beautiful person whose unexpected arrival was totally welcome. Our girls had a chance to spend some real time with their Abuelita, and our home was suddenly filled with the beauty of her Colombian Spanish, and the flavors and aromas of Colombian home cooking.

Right when it seemed as if we had no time at all for relaxing, let alone vacationing, we found ourselves at the beach. The whole experience was surreal. Without anticipation, we exchanged the current rush of our lives for sifting through seashells and floating in the crystal clear waters of Playa Ocotal. For a moment, time stood still and we had the chance to stop with it. The earth caressed our souls and we took time to reflect on the wisdom of a woman whose 81 years have granted her insights worthy to be heard.

It's funny how life thrusts us into situations we would never expect to find ourselves. I am convinced that there is something to be learned from everything we live through. After having so many experiences that have been hard to swallow, it was refreshing to grow from a positive one for a change. Many thanks for the terrific surprise which served as a reminder that there is always time to stop and enjoy the beauty of life.
