For my mother’s stay we thought of several nice destinations that we could take her, but we also put out the option of simply enjoying time together in our new, open to nature home. She chose the latter and for the last two weeks we have enjoyed wonderful, quiet days as a family with short excursions to visit good friends here who were anxious to meet my mother.
It has been a real treat for me to spend time with my mom and even more wonderful to see my girls able to interact with their grandmother. There is a magic in the simplicity of reading stories, afternoon walks, table games and sharing memories of old times together. I realize that we are fortunate in that there is a great chemistry between all of us and that after two weeks we are all wishing for three, or more. My husband and I each have a great relationship with our mothers-in-law.
Even though she is certain that she does not want to come here to live, she has enjoyed this visit so much that she has promised to return, soon and often. I can’t sayhow happy I am to know that she wants to come back. It totally neutralizes the regret I have felt over leaving her. Now, there is a reason that makes our being here a great feature in my mom’s life. Anytime she wants a vacation, she knows that there is a big open deck to read on, her own private space to rest in and four people who love her who only want to pamper her.

I am so happy for you! And love the photo!
Hi found your blog via expat women. seeing your photo almost made me shed a tear. See I have been living overseas for 9months (the longest without seeing my parents) I miss them dearly and I'm trying to convince them to come for a visit. and if they can't then I will be seeing them in the midwest.
Beautiful Allison! That says it all!
