Ask Yourself

On September 6, 2011, one of our friends in Costa Rica punctually honored an order to appear in court. Our friend, however, was denied the hearing she was called to due to the fact that she appeared in the flesh without any sort of government issued number or identification. Since the very official who had brought the complaint against our friend was in the same room and could easily confirm her identity, it may only be concluded that the court was unable to proceed with the hearing because our friend lacked the contract which would enable the courts to speak to our friend at all.

On that day our friend was even denied the knowledge of what charges had been brought against her.
On that day, representatives of the government broke through the locked gate to our friends' property, invaded their home and confiscated their property.

According to the constitution of Costa Rica:
ARTICLE 25. The inhabitants of the Republic have the right of association for lawful purposes. No one may be compelled to form a part of any association whatsoever.

Not forming association with the Republic of Costa Rica is not a crime.
To this day, our friends have not committed a crime. No charges of any crime have been brought before our friends.

Our friends in Costa Rica have been forced to seek refuge to protect themselves and their children from the lawless actions of officials from the Ministry of Health in Puriscal and PANI. These officials have made it clear that they intend to take possession of our friends' minor children by force.

From afar, we have been able to confirm that the case number which was included in the order to appear in court is in fact a public record. There is a computerized system in Costa Rica where any individual may research any public record. Unfortunately, Puriscal lacks this sophisticated technology and so it is necessary for the public to retrieve public records in person. The charges should be made available to anyone, with association (government issued identification), no questions asked.

I challenge you to test this process.
The expediente, or case number, is 11-400185-197-FA.
Find out what the charges are specifically. Then ask yourself, how great is a country whose officials use coercion, intimidation and force against people who have not been presented with charges of any crime; whose officials deny those people due process; whose officials disregard the constitution they claim to be subservient to and whose officials inject terror into the same children they claim to be protecting?

i wish you could explain to me how they are law abiding citizens when they are living in that country illegally? I do not agree with forced vaccinations but i also do not agree with children being used to make a political stand. My job as a father is to give my children the guidance and the opportunity to do/be what ever their blessed hearts desire.

I am having a very hard time concluding that children are being used or that there is a political stand or agenda with this documentation.

What is illegal about the family living in Costa Rica on land they legally purchased? If I understand correctly the family's status is "Freeman On The Land". That is no more illegal than the Amish or other such sects.

This family is being bullied and punished and terrorized for nothing more than unintentionally bruising an ego or two because they did not comply with unlawful demands without question. I mean REALLY look at what is going on here. Their lives are being torn apart by people who are supposed to serve and protect not because they are beating, molesting, starving, or abusing their children in any way whatsoever. All this is happening to them, supposedly, over vaccination shots. This is not an emergency situation unlike some emergency situations that are routinely ignored by Costarican “authorities” and yet these authorities are doing their best to destroy a family. Since when is a vaccination shot a legitimate reason to rip children from the loving and protective arms of their parents only to throw them into an institution?

There are people who have gone their lives without a shot. Should we hunt down their parents and throw them into jail? Should these adults who have gone without vaccinations be forced to now receive the vaccinations they missed? What should happen to them if they don’t comply? Tear apart their families, ransack and rob their homes and properties, throw them behind bars and force them to accept vaccinations?

The children are not being used to make a political stand. These parents are making a stand for their children. I, personally, applaud them for being brave enough to do so.

Our family lives in Costa Rica. We are residents, and we also homeschool and refuse vaccinations. Not only has this been 100% okay with the Costa Rican government they are fully aware of what we are doing and have no complaints.

The problem with this families situation is that they ARE here illegally, and instead of answering simple questions spouted off about how other's needed to follow their religion.

We also have a different religion than most and it is very important to us, however since we are following the law we have had no problems.

I do understand the appeal of being a citizen of no country, but the fact is it doesn't work. EVERY person I've heard of that has tried this it has turned out badly for.

there is a reason Jesus said to follow the laws of the land and to give to Ceaser that which is his. He was not saying it was "idol worship" to be a citizen, in fact Paul HIMSELF was a citizen of Rome. To say it is sinful to be a citizen of a country is to ignore the biblical examples we have, and is to cause yourself trouble that could be easily avoided.

To the most recent anonymous poster with the comment regarding your own experience. I do wish to know who you are and I urge you to come forward with your identity so that others may be aided by your example

I am elated to know that you and your family have been successful in living as residents in Costa Rica and openly home-schooling your children and forgoing vaccines for them. It is incredible to me, however, that you have had such good fortune, as I am aware of another young family who has residency in Costa Rica and are currently enduring a very long, complicated fight in court to not vaccinate their children.

I believe that you may have drawn an inaccurate conclusion regarding our friends’ “situation.” Our friends have never “spouted off about how other's needed to follow their religion.” Our friends have, in fact, never claimed any religion. Our friends clearly made record that they did not “refuse” vaccines. Contrary to your observation, our friends have, in fact, answered every offer and order presented to them.

I agree that this trouble could have been easily avoided, had the judge and the other public servants acknowledged the affidavits and constructive notices that were honorably submitted on time and with great research and consideration. It was not the actions of our friends, but that of an obviously inconsistent government who failed to, as you mention, do that which Jesus said to do: Follow the laws of their land.

One thing I have a problem with: who is this "God of Israel"?

Isn't the "God of Israel" the same as the God of all people (or at least, the same God as understood by Jews and Christians)?

One of the problems with this family is they aren't residence and to my understanding the 2 young children don't even have birth certificates. This is not right for the children in the future. Truthfully I don't really want to be around children or families that don't get the vaccinations. The USA is having problems with some diseases coming back because of people from other countries not being vaccinated or people refusing vaccination. The way I look at it is God gave the doctors and the scientist the knowledge to come with the medicines to prevent diseases. People who don't get them are putting the elderly, people with low immune systems in danger and others in general. I think they are self centered and don't really care about others. Remember what happened to the Native American Indians when the pioneers and the missionaries brought disease to them or Hawaii when the missionaries went to save them but killed most of them off with disease. These are the reasons for vaccinations to prevent diseases from spreading. With today's world travel being easier to do I think people need to responsible. I think this terrible tragedy is the fault of the parents by not abiding by the laws all the years as for as not becoming residence and living off other people by selling products. There is nothing wrong with living off the land that they purchased but not to become residence is a big problem or not getting birth certificates for the younger 2 children. If you want to live in a country you need to follow some laws and what I'm getting from this also is that they didn't want to pay into the government but it is okay to use the public facilities and persons. This family are illegals even if they do own land. They bought the land before they were illegal knowing they were not going to follow all the laws. As for as I'm concerned when you go to live in a foreign country you are a guest. Yes we should abide by the laws of the countries. The USA has problems with the borders of Mexico.

Your truthful input on how this makes you feel and the way you “look at it” is something entirely personal. Please look back through the archives of this blog and read all of the work submitted to the ministries and courts. This family has never sought or accepted the use or offers from “public facilities and persons.”

To one of the anonymous posters here. Who is to say what is right or wrong for the way one decides to raise their own children? This, again, has to come from narrow minded individuals who believe that things have to be as they have been taught without applying any common sense or consideration of basic human rights and respect of others. These anonymous comments seem to me as an attempt to manipulate other readers to do as they do, follow orders without questioning any validity or rightfulness.
Since when, is selling a carefully manufactured healthy product categorized as living off other people? This family was self sufficient and productive members of that community.

oyThe parents have given half their children statelessness and statelessness can be self-perpetuating with women and children among the most vulnerable to face the brunt of the situation. Children born to parents with no legal status and identity become stateless from the moment they are born. Generation after generation thousands are forced into a life of deprivation, extreme poverty and destitution as they survive on the margins of society as some of the most excluded people in the world.

Anonymous. You certainly know a lot about this family. Rather than hiding your identity and posting your off point, copy and paste ideology,(repeatedly on an older post) why not try to read the Constructive Notice that has most recently been posted and reply to it with some thoughtful reference to law? Can you please point to specific constitutional articles which, in any way, justify the lawless actions of the officials?

I'm sure they were a great family, I'm sure they were well loved, respected, and loved their children.

However, that does not negate the fact that they were here ILLEGALLY and since they were LIVING in a COUNTRY they should follow the laws of the land.

Costa Rica does not just barge in on legal families and demand you vaccinate them. Through our association of residents here in Costa Rica we know hundreds of families living here, non of whom have had to send their children to school or vaccinate, with no complaint from the law. It is quite legal to do so.

However, if you're living here illegally.. you have no say in the laws.

Lots of people are so sure that this family was living in CR illegally. This is said again and again by anonymous authors... could you please clarify your statements. How about some facts? Please reference CR's constitution in your reply. Have you even read the affidavits posted on this site regarding this issue?

Selling their baking to happy customers is 'living of other people'... now that is just pure comedy. Now, somehow I have a sneaky suspicion that some of you anonymous authors are literally living of the CR people...
