When you live in Costa Rica, shopping is something you do when you go "home." With each trip I make to the United States, a list of needs always accompanies me, and on it are always electronics and things made of Cotton. It is not that I can't find these things here, but they are very, very expensive. Shopping is just more fun when you get a good deal, and while I have yet to find any great deals on electronics and things made of Cotton, Costa Rica does have other deals.
Recently, my husband and I stopped by one of the many nurseries in La Garita. Talk about good deals. We spent a couple of hours browsing through numerous lovely plants and ended up filling the back of our SUV for under $30. The visit was sort of out of the blue, so we have plans to go back many times and stock up on all of the glorious things that grow so easily in Costa Rica. I tell you, it is a lot easier to stock up on electronics and things made of cotton every so often than to try to stuff a palm tree in your suitcase!
